After almost a week of living with the pain and swelling in his wrist I finally talked Bryan into going to urgent care. The doctor diagnosed him with tendonitis and he is now wearing a splint. Treatment is fortunately very inexpensive, ice, ibuprofen, and rest. Hopefully after 7-10 days he will be back to normal. The more I have read the more it sounds like it was using the sawsall that did the damage.
Sometimes the tendons become inflamed for a variety of reasons, and the action of pulling the muscle becomes irritating. If the normal smooth gliding motion of your tendon is impaired, the tendon will become inflamed and movement will become painful. This is called tendonitis, and literally means inflammation of the tendon. Performing repetitive finger and wrist motions or using vibrating equipment also heightens your risk of developing tendonitis in that area.
